World's Largest Overdose Prevention Training

International Overdose Awareness Day is marked annually on August 31st. On this day, we take a moment to remember the many lives lost to overdose - each one devastating to those left behind.

A few years ago, First Step decided to do more than simply 'remember' - we wanted to actively equip people with the knowledge and skills to recognise an overdose and do something about it.

That tiny idea grew rapidly into the World's Largest Overdose Prevention Training.

Our simple aim was to reach the people who are most likely to witness an overdose: mums, dads, husbands, wives, friends, carers, supporters, workers, bystanders.

The training addresses the signs and symptoms of overdose and provides a demonstration on how to use the opioid reversal drug Naloxone.

How to access Naloxone for free?

Naloxone is available via the Federal Government's Take Home Naloxone program.  The following is a list of pharmacies that currently provide naloxone for free in your community download here (we suggest you call ahead to make sure it's in stock).

You can watch a recording of the training below.
